The twice-monthly free Asian Night Market (Chợ Đêm) welcomed in the new year with a full programming at the RD International Market on Beach Blvd on January 9 and 10, 2026.
You may recall that I was left disappointed with my first Night Market on May 30, 2025, due to lack of live music and entertainment. In addition, the location (Asian Square Supermarket), wasn’t large and parking was a problem. Having just attended the show on January 10th, sponsored by local business Vu Automotive, at the RD International Market, I am happy to report that this show was better and different.
The event started at 4pm, and we have about 20 food or goods vendors, plus an inflatable castle and some fun & games area. Attendance was very good for Saturday night. For an hour or so, the music was handled by Gia Huy the self-proclaimed “One Man Band”. He would play live keyboard, in addition to pre-programmed music and beats.
Between the hours, an MC would announce the programming for the day, and would also introduce all the business/vendors and what type of food or drinks that was at the event.
The live musical acts were all Vietnamese singers from Orlando. They would perform two songs each, with Gia Huy handling the music portion (which meant there was no waiting around for resetting the stage). Anthony Nguyen was up first with “Sway”, the mambo song that was made famous by Dean Martin. Laura Vo was up next, followed by Binh Vo. Not sure if the Vo’s were married or related, or their surname was by coincident.
Rosie Tuong Vy closed out the Orlando troop singing Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” and closing with Chubby Checker’s “Let’s Twist Again.” For the latter song, Rosie decided to step down from the stage and performed on the floor – with the audience quickly joining in to do “The Twist” dance.
The music portion ran a little longer than expected, so the Lion Dance from First Coast Lion Dance, was pushed back to 7:30pm. I only saw the first dance and I’ll be completely honest – I wasn’t that impressed with it, because I’ve seen much better and more entertaining Lion/Dragon dances from California. What I saw from First Coast is that there was a black and a red lion, and they only mildly slowly walked around while kids came up to the dragon to pet or feed it tips. I guess the kids loved it.
There was a Pho eating contest after this, followed by BINGO, and the programming would run until 10pm.
We had a great time at the January 10th Asian Night Market event and would love to come back for a future show (but personally speaking, only if there are live musical guests). This was pretty cool, and I will recommend coming in early to get a seat and table or a good parking spot.
