Kicks and Co LED Display

I recently saw these Kicks & Co Stackable LED Display Cases at Walmart and decided to buy one to check it out. They’re marketed for sneakerheads, but I thought I could display some toys, and it might look cool with the LED lights.

Just as I thought, the display seems very flimsy. Top and bottom black plastic are very thin. They snaps together with clear plastic to form a rectangle box. I feel you should not put anything heavier than 10lbs inside (I’m probably being generous). They’re really designed for shoes or clothing, so something lightweight. I would not put heavy statues.

Their website shows the display case holding up a 20lb dumbbell, with the caption “Ultra Durable,” but I do not believe that marketing.

These boxes are designed to be stackable (snaps in place). The front drawer has tiny magnets to hold the door closed and should not fall open accidentally. I was actually impressed with the magnets, it holds very well.

The USB-powered LED lights are adjustable by colors and dimness. You must hold the remove very close to the light source. You can also daisychain the USB lights, so you can control all the lights with one remote. All pretty cool, and I think I might have to buy a few more, if I see them at Walmart.

They do sell non-LED light display boxes, so if you want to save a little money, I suggest buying those and then wiring and adding in your own USB lights. These light stripes can be found for as little as $5 (includes remote).

As for items to put in the display case, I think model cars or something long (15 inches). The case will fit action figures under 8 inches. Example, those Todd McFarlane’s 7-inch action figures will fit comfortably within the case. The “Megafig” will not fit, obviously.
