Minneapolis This Week (March 15, 2026)
Here is what is going on this week in Minneapolis/St Paul, ending on March 15, 2026: • Cornelia Murr at 7th St Entry (Mar 10, 2026) • Jesse Welles at First Avenue (Mar 12-13, 2026) • Michael Shannon & Jason Narducy and Friends at First Avenue (Mar 14, 2026)
The London-born singer-songwriter Cornelia Murr is returning to Minnesota, playing the 7th Street Entry, on March 10, 2026.
We saw Murr in Oct 2025 and said, “Cornelia Murr opened the early, all-age show. She was born in London, but spent most of her life living in different parts of the United States. Toggling between NYC and LA most of her musical career, she made a bold choice to move to Red Cloud, NE, to restore an old farm house. The geographic location of the small town being in the twenty miles from the center of the contiguous United States provided inspiration for her latest album Run to the Center, which she played from with songs like “How Do You Get By” and “Skylight.” “There’s so much room on the stage,” Murr smiled. “I don’t know where to put myself.””

The current face of protest singer is undoubtedly Jesse Welles. The prolific songwriter has been cranking out all sorts of songs to address the current climate. And he’s good! One listen to his Anti-ICE song, “Join ICE”, and you can hear the cleverness and commentary on their brutality.
No surprise, but his entire tour is sold out. Welles is headlining First Avenue, in Minneapolis, on March 12 and March 13.
S.G. Goodman to open. We saw Goodman in Oct 2021 and said, “Turnout for the show was pretty terrific for a Friday, with S.G. Goodman taking the stage around 8:30pm. This was her first time here, and although she only played seven or eight songs, mostly from her debut album Old Time Feeling, she filled out the time nicely as she tends to ramble between songs. We learn that she’s “legally obligated” to say her name seven times, as her manager thinks it’s good for name recognition. And as promised, she would continue to say her name throughout the show, including during the band introduction: Nick Harley on bass, Matt Rowan on guitars, and Stephen Montgomery on drums.”

Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy (with Friends) is back! This time they are going to take on R.E.M.’s Lifes Rich Pageant. Some of my favorite songs on this album is “Fall On Me” and “Superman”. The “Superman” song is actually a cover of The Clique… but everybody, including myself associate the song with R.E.M.
We saw Michael Shannon & Jason Narducy in March 2025 and said, “This cover band act could absolutely be a gimmick; famous actor who can do a good impression of a pretty identifiable and idiosyncratic singer. But from my perspective, it was pretty obvious from the first few songs that Shannon cares about this band and its music, and that ultimately raises it up to “imitation being the sincerest form of flattery”. And the backing band has the chops to carry this. Besides Narducy, providing lead guitar and backing vocals, there’s fellow Mould and Superchunk performer Jon Wurster on drums, and the six performers are obviously very comfortable with each other. It turns out that Shannon and Narducy have been doing various cover music for a decade, before embarking on their first tour last year.”
Bobcat Goldthwait to open.
