We saw González in April 2015 and said, “Sweden’s José González took the stage with a full touring band and backlit stage lighting. José González’s set can be broken down in three parts: the first section featuring mostly songs from the latest album Vestiges & Claws (“Afterglow”, “Stories We Build, Stories We Tell”, “Every Age”, “With The Ink Of A Ghost”), but throwing in some older songs and a Kylie Minogue cover (“Hand on Your Heart”) and one Junip song (González’s band).”
Abby Sage to open.

James McMurtry is back, and billed as James McMurtry and the Martial Law Review, will be headlining the Fine Line, in Minneapolis, on April 28, 2026.
The ticket limit is strict. Any attempt to exceed the posted ticket limit per customer or household, or to game the system in any way, will result in cancellation of orders without notice. There is a transfer delay for all tickets prior to the show.
We caught James McMurtry in April 2025 and wrote, “After singing “Memento” from an upcoming new album, Soo was joined on stage by James McMurtry to sing one of his songs “Gulf Road.” It was apparent why McMurtry chose to bring Soo on the road with him. Even though their physical presence couldn’t be anymore different, their voices blend so nicely you can feel the musical kinship. McMurtry is one of those musicians that can entertain a crowd with just an acoustic guitar, but he was joined on stage with a few of his friends: Cornbread on bass, Daren Hess on drums and Tim Holt on guitar and accordion. And right out of the gate they charged ahead with “Fuller Brush Man”, a big rock and roll song sounding like an eight-cylinder Cadillac barreling through the Texas plains. Unlike Soo, McMurtry was more laconic when it came to audience interaction. He introduced “Black Dog and Wandering Boy” from his latest same-named album as a song about modern medicine.”

Reverend Horton Heat is returning to First Avenue, in Minneapolis, on April 29, 2026.
The ticket limit is strict. Any attempt to exceed the posted ticket limit per customer or household, or to game the system in any way, will result in cancellation of orders without notice. There is a transfer delay for all tickets prior to the show.
We saw The Reverend in Sep 2015 and wrote, “Next up was legendary godfather of rockabilly Reverend Horton Heat with a full 75 minute set. This obviously wasn’t their first rodeo, playing plenty of tracks from across their 11 albums, including a few from their latest Rev album (available on Victory Records). For those not familiar with the Heat, the trio is built around Jim “Horton” Heath. His music is reflected in his love for good old fashion Country & Western and Honky Tonk music. He crafted a sound that pioneered what we know as modern-day rockabilly and psychobilly. It was pretty amazing to watch the way Health played his guitar. It was effortless, he can be looking at the upright bassist Jimbo Wallace, pose for a photo, winked at a girl, and all the time playing complicated notes with his fingers were running up and down the neck of the guitar like it was nothing.”
Black Joe Lewis and Piñata Protest to open.
The Lemon Twigs returns to Minneapolis, playing the Fine Line, on May 1, 2026.
The ticket limit is strict. Any attempt to exceed the posted ticket limit per customer or household, or to game the system in any way, will result in cancellation of orders without notice. There is a transfer delay for all tickets prior to the show.
We first saw the Lemon Twigs in Oct 2016 and wrote, “I’m not going to lie, but the biggest buzz band I’ve seen in a long time, has got to be The Lemon Twigs. Almost immediately, the dancefloor was filled to the walls of curious onlookers and fans who thought the Lemon Twigs was the best thing since sliced bread. They were pretty good, actually, sounding a bit like the Beatles and a bit like Belle & Sebastian (the orchestra-ness) if they came from the 70’s. It’s such a great sound. The New York band consists of two brothers Brian D’Addario (guitar, keyboards, vocals, drums, horns, strings) and Michael D’Addario (guitar, keyboards, vocals, drums), with help from Danny Ayala (keyboards), and Megan Zeankowski (bass).”

UK’s The Cribs (featuring three Jarman brothers) will be headlining the 7th Street Entry, in Minneapolis, on May 2, 2026, in support of Selling A Vibe (Play It Again Sam).
We saw The Cribs in Sep 2015 and wrote, “I think it’s best summed up by The Cribs‘ guitarist/vocalist Ryan Jarman as he exclaimed, “Let’s rock like it’s 2007!” referring to their first St Paul show. The trio, featuring twins Ryan & Gary, and younger brother Ross Jarman, are currently touring in support of their sixth studio album For All My Sisters, which came out last March 2015 via Sonic Blew / Sony RED UK. Only a handful of new tracks (“Different Angle”, “An Ivory Hand”, “Burning For No One”, “Summer Of Chances”, and set closer “Pink Snow”) were played, instead the trio picked some fan-favorite tracks like “Come on, be a No-One” from 2012’s In the Belly of the Brazen Bull and “Our Bovine Public”, the intro track from 2007’s Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever.”

Ireland’s Grainne Hunt will once again be headlining the Celtic Junction, in Minneapolis, on May 3, 2026.
The Junction described the upcoming event:
A queer, nu-folk singer-songwriter and one of Ireland’s most compelling voices, Gráinne Hunt blends raw emotional honesty with quiet, commanding power. Often described as “The Irish Joni,” her songwriting has drawn comparisons to Tracy Chapman and Natalie Merchant, pairing finely wrought lyrics with a voice that is both intimate and arresting.
Hear Gráinne Hunt live on May 3, 6:00–8:30 pm at the Celtic Junction. Hunt’s tour is supported by Culture Ireland, helping promote Irish artists on the world stage.
🎟️ Tickets: $25 at celticjunction.org
We saw Hunt in May 2025 and said, “Graínne Hunt is a Kildare based songwriter and folk singer. She had a 2019 album, This Secret, and supporting it had many of the challenges of those released near the start of the pandemic. Hunt was performing alongside Jules Stewart on the tour. With Hunt on guitar and Stewart on drums, the pair started with the song Lilacs (in June). It’s worth pointing out right away, Hunt is a great singer; a strong alto with that Irish accent playing softly on her folk singer ways. Between the Pines, the first track off of This Secret, was a lovely number, and the lyrics “with California on my mind” makes more sense knowing Stewart lives in San Diego. Some hilarious banter from Hunt about her accent and crowd sourcing what some lyrics from the song actually were demonstrated Hunt’s ability to bring the crowd along the journey and her overall professionalism as a performer.”
If your band is coming to the Minneapolis/St Paul area, please email details to vu@weheartmusic.com with a good lead time. Thank you.
