Irish electro-trad trio Chasing Abbey returns to Minnesota, playing the Turf Club, in St Paul, on October 6, 2026, in support of their debut album Cyber Celt.
Chasing Abbey was just in town earlier in August 2026, headlining the Twin Cities Irish Fest: “Chasing Abbey is from Tullamore and their take on traditional Irish music is to fuse it with the underlying currents of electronic dance music. Like Biird they are pretty new to the music scene with their debut album Cyber Celt set to be released September 18. They have started an ambitious world tour with another stop in St. Paul on October 6 at the Turf Club, a show that is already sold out. Chasing Abbey consists of Ronan Bell on lead vocals, Jonathan Byrne on acoustic guitar and Ted Conway on banjo. They were backed by a DJ wearing a deer mask. And when they took the stage, it felt an awkward transition to go from high frivolity with Gaelic Storm to a blend of electronica fused with traditional Irish music sung in the Gaelic tongue. But there was a reason to have this band play last, because by the time the sun set and the stage lighting took over the music found a home with the crowd as everybody started dancing to a “Scartha” “Learning to Dance” and Saoirse Saoirse.” Midway through the show Bell told the crowd the origin story on how their band came to be. Like most children in Ireland the trio of friends were trained to play traditional Irish music. But as teenagers they found an affinity to create their own electronic dance music, creating beats in a shed on Byrne’s family’s property. Then a town celebration for Bell’s grandma’s 100th birthday gave the trio a chance to dust off their instruments and the traditional songs, which posed a question for the group after the celebration was done: What if they combined the two music styles?”

Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy are co-headlining the Palace Theatre, in St Paul, on October 10, 2026.
We’ve seen both bands before, with Snail Mail comes to mind on her headlining show at First Avenue in July 2019 describing the show: “This was Snail Mail’s fifth time in the Minneapolis area (which we previously listed or spotlight every time: May 2017, July 2017, October 2017, June 2018, and July 2019), but this was the first time she’s graced the larger mainroom at First Avenue. Lindsey smiled and said, “Thanks for making this happen.” The dancefloor was completely filled with young fans, dancing and singing along. It’s clear that all her previous appearances (which all happened within two years!) that she’s built up a solid fanbase from word of mouth. Watching how easily Snail Mail plays as a band, easing into the next song, and just naturally performing on stage. It’s hard to believe that Lindsey is only 20 years old. It should be interesting to see what they have in store for us for the inevitable next album.”

first-avenue.com
Acclaimed singer-songwriter-bassist Karina Rykman is headlining the 7th Street Entry, in Minneapolis, on October 11, 2026, in support of Late Checkout (Karina Rykman/High Rotation Records).
We saw Rykman in Feb 2024 and wrote, “Like her previous appearance, she is certainly all-smiles and laughter throughout the set. In fact, Rykman mention what an honor it was to play at the historic First Avenue venue (the 7th Street Entry is within the same building). She took a photo of her famous smile in front the venue. I’ll have to admit, it’s weird to hear her sing, as most of the songs I’m used to seeing her play are more instrumental (and heavy on the bass). She did play her single “Joyride” early in the set… and after another song, a surprise cover of Wet Leg’s “Chaise Longue”. Best moment in that song was waiting for the audience to sing back, “What?””
Tarias and the Sound to open.
