Shonen Knife (少年ナイフ)

I fell in love with Shonen Knife in the early 90s, with Let's Knife. And although my first (and favorite) Knife song is "Riding the Rocket", the lyrics may sound outdated due to the fact that Pluto was de-planetized: "Riding the rocket, I wanna go to Pluto.". They were further popularized when the band was asked to open up for Nirvana (who was supernova-ing with Nevermind).

Tori Amos – Abnormally Attracted to Sin

Tori Amos needs no introduction, her latest album, Abnormally Attracted to Sin, out now on Universal Repblic Records on May 18th. I was originally offered to listen to the album via a software called Play MPE, which I had absolutely no interest in installing. Maybe it's not true, but my perception of these installation is that they track everything you do through their music: what tracks you listen to, how many times you listen to it, when you fast-forward it, (the same sort of thing is done via lastfm). Anyway, it was just easier to just go and pick up the album at the store. Luckily, Target carried the deluxe edition.

Foma

Foma is an indiepop group from San Francisco by the way of Albuquerque, and last Tuesday saw their latest release, Inverness EP. I don't really know much about them, but based on the "recommendations" on CD Baby, they seem to think they sound like Modesto's Grandaddy. Based on their latest EP, they seem to me like sounding like Ben & Jason or even a mellowier Lucksmiths (and that's not a bad comparison considering how we all love the Luckies here).

SXSW: Summary

SXSW: SUMMARY
You know, the festival is only four days, but it really seem like weeks.

While having every band in the world merge at one place might sound like a great idea... sometime their appearance conflicts with other artists that you also want to see. So one of the biggest problem I had was sacrificing who to see.

SXSW09 Preview

I will at SXSW09 from March 17th to March 22nd so I will have sporadic internet access, if any.  Please consider getting in contact with me if you want to hang out. Also, don't expect any updates from me, until maybe March 24th or so.  I am certain I will be seeing loads of bands, but there are only a few on my preliminary list: SUPERDRAG, THE COATHANGERS, THE DRONES, LAURA MARLING, HONEY CLAWS, ASTEROID GALAXY TOUR and THE CRIMEA.
