W♥M Radio returns.

The breaking news is that you can pick up Oh Mercy‘s album, Privileged Woes, for $1 on iTunes until June 30th. This is a deal. This is a steal.

If you haven’t listened to our podcast, I’ll fill you in: they’re from Melbourne, Australia. Sally may have heard of them via Triple J. I pointed out that the girl in the band is on bass (one point for me).

They are currently enjoying some tour dates with The Temper Trap, who I previously saw.

    Oh Mercy Tourdates:
    July 22—Metro City–Perth
    July 23–Thebarton Theatre–Adelaide
    July 24–Festival Hall -Melbourne, Victoria
    July 27–Hordern Pavilion–Sydney
    July 30–Splendour In The Grass-Brisbane

More details about Oh Mercy at myspace and twitter.

Ex-Curve Toni Halliday’s new project is called Chatalaine. The project is a collaboration with Louise Dowd over the past three years. They finally have a debut album ready, and it’s called Take a Line for a Walk. It’s to be released digitally tomorrow.

Raining and OK – “Shadows” Music Video

I love Curve, so it’s only natural that I wholly enjoyed hearing Take a Line for a Walk. It’s really good, even the remixes (honest!) If you want to check out some free songs, you can get two of them from chatelainemusic.com.

Other topics we talked about:

  • The World Cup 2010
  • Dapples Cities‘s laser and fog show.
  • Raining and OK‘s music video for “Shadows”. More info on rainingandok.com
  • Ex Norweigen has a new album, Sketch. Details on exnorwegian.com
  • Herbie Hancock‘s followup to his Grammy-award-winning album is called The Imagine Project. It’s to be out on June 22th, and I have a copy. It’s lovely, if you like jazzy lounge pop music. Hear four songs on the official website

Even more:

  • Britpop: June 26th
Britpop.com.au upcoming “Cigarettes & Alcohol” theme on June 26th

  • “Australian Sensation” Sarah Blasko is making her way across the pond with As Day Follows Night to be released domestically in the States on August 10th via Dramatico Records. I have recorded that I will be reviewing the album, so I can’t really back out now. But what I’ve heard, I like.

Stick around after the Oh Mercy song to hear me talk about my Spanish-triple-threat Alex Cuba (Dakota Jazz Club 6/9), Chico Trujillo, Grupo Fantasma (at the Cedar 6/10).
