If your band is coming to the Minneapolis/St Paul area, please email details to vu@weheartmusic.com with a good lead time.

Please put “Minneapolis” or “Kansas City” in the subject header, as it is how I filter my mail.

It is really that simple.

Thank you, and good luck. I look forward to hearing from you.

  1. Needless to say, I am very disappointed. We Heart Music was the only site that I could find that seemed to house a comprehensive list of deceased musicians. However, that has been eradicated, so it seems. There isn’t any alternative of which I can find. I guess I would like to know what happened, just for the sake of curiosity. I am assuming there are some logistical, financial and possibly legal reasons behind it, but it would be good to know. Also, I have looked to find an alternative, as I mentioned, but have had little success. If you have any suggestions, I would be grateful. You see, I have used your lists to pay homage to those musicians who have passed. I try to play their music, when it is available. However, what I will have to contend with at this point will be those who make mainstream media in the U.S., and that is a shame and a disservice to the others who have made significant contributions to the music industry. Thank you for your time and consideration to this matter.

  2. Simon House , violin and keyboard player of both, Hawkwind and David Bowie passed away Sunday 5/25 at age 76.

  5. From Dave Cousins FB page:
    JOHN HAWKEN PASSES
It is with deep sadness that I must tell you that John Hawken passed away peacefully with his family at his side at 2pm US Eastern Standard Time today.
John Hawken joined Strawbs in late 1973. His contribution to the Strawbs legacy was immense and with John on board Strawbs played consistently to the band’s biggest audiences. The breakthrough for Strawbs in the US and Canada was the 1974 album ‘Hero and Heroine’. The following 1975 album ‘Ghosts’ charted even higher in the Billboard charts. John’s keyboard work contributed greatly to our success.
John Hawken was renowned for his sensitive touch on the piano, most notably on ‘The Winter Long’ from ‘Autumn’. John became highly adept on Mellotron and Moog synthesizer, defining the backbone of the Strawbs sound.

  6. John Hawken keyboard player of the original Renaissance as well as member of the Strawbs passed away on May 16.

After a year of recording and rehearsing, Heartwood is set to release their first batch of thoroughly crafted music. The band will be releasing a 7” Series: 5 pairings of A-side and B-side singles, the second of which (You Should Really Thank Me/Nothing Can Do You Wrong) to be released on April 10th. The 10 songs were internally created, having been written, recorded, produced, and mixed by only the 4 members.
Heartwood is an Alternative Indie Rock band from Downtown Los Angeles. After meeting in 2013, they quickly realized that their musical energy and camaraderie was undeniable. Their influences include rock legends such as Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Led Zeppelin and The Beach Boys, as well as modern acts like Radiohead, The Arctic Monkeys, and Green Day. Based on a deep-rooted appreciation for their heroes of the past, the band creates their own stamp on Rock n’ Roll with a fusion of pop-oriented hooks, creative soundscaping and in-your-face trombone solos. Heartwood is on a mission to bring rock back to the forefront of music, and with these new elements they are sculpting a rock and roll of the future.
