SXSW 2014 Showcases

This is PART TWO of SXSW 2014 Preview for the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, starting next week.
I believe this may be the last of the SXSW previews… there may be a last-minute third article, if I get enough announcements sent to me. Otherwise late entries will always be posted on news.weheartmusic.com.

ASTRALWERKS

Of all the showcases I've seen this week, the big winner for me was:
Astralwerks official label showcase at SXSW 2014 on March 12 at the Parish (214 E 6th St, Austin).

I can't speak for the other bands, but I've seen the Kooks at the Metro in Chicago in 2007, and, in my opinion, probably the biggest star on the lineup so far. Again, this is early, so more artists may be added or taken out closer to March 12th.

I'm a longtime 4AD fan.

This is the label's first SXSW in five years, and they want you to join them – even if you're not attending SXSW. They are using a technology called Howl to broadcast live video in real time. More information on howl.it.

This year's location is over at Cheer Up Charlie's (900 Red River, Austin, TX 78701) and will take place Thursday, March 13 at 8pm.

City Pages named Totally Gross National Product "Minnesota's Best Record Label" (2013). The label is actually by founder Ryan Olson, from Gayngs, Polica, and his friends.

Recently the label came on my radar for releasing Marijuana Deathsquads' Oh My Sexy Lord and Solid Gold's Eat Your Young.

BERLIN GOES SXSW

Berlin Goes SXSW is returning to South by Southwest this year in Austin, Texas, this year. Their full program (consisting of lots of panels, technology, social, and networking events) is almost too much to talk about it. Go to german-haus.biz and download the full program there.
