Peter Wolf Crier

Peter Wolf Crier’s CD release show at first seemed as if it were beginning their mostly east coast tour with a rough start. Technical issues concerning Pete Pisano’s microphone delayed multiple songs, most notably the first one

Here are some shows taking place in Minneapolis/St Paul from January 1 to January 3, 2015.
New Year’s Day (January 1st) is an unofficial holiday, so there are actually no shows scheduled.

PETER WOLF CRIER

at Turf Club

Friday 01/02/15, 8pm ($8)

Brian Moen and Peter Pisano wrote, “Twin Cities, it’s been awhile since we’ve been in town…”

It’s true, the last time we saw the band Peter Wolf Crier, it was for their CD release show for Garden of Arms (Jagjaguwar) at the Cedar Cultural Center in September 2011.

They also add on their website, “Dudes, what the hell have you been doing? In short: we are going to be sending the update for the stars, but for now we wanted to say thanks for sticking with us.”

It should be interesting to see what they have in store for 2015 with this special first show for the year on January 2nd at the Turf Club in St Paul, Minnesota. Let’s hope they cover INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart”.

Local BBGun (who previously opened up for The Ericksons in October) and Actual Wolf (who we saw with Johnnyswim in February).

Zoso

Last Saturday night Zoso, a Led Zeppelin tribute band, rocked out Mill City Nights. Not only does the band attempt to capture Zeppelin’s sound, but each member has embodied their characters down to the finest of details with Matt Jernigan

LED ZEPPELIN 2

at Varsity Theater

Saturday 01/03/15, 7:30pm ($15)

As previously mentioned during another Led Zeppelin (Zoso) tribute show, Behzad wrote, “I met a couple of people that make it a priority to attend at least one Led Zeppelin tribute band concert a week! They could rattle off all the different bands and gave critiques of which was better in sound, appearance, and overall showmanship. Unfortunately, these “groupies” weren’t very coherent as they seemed to have pregamed the event very well…”

Count Led Zeppelin 2 as one of the many LZ tribute bands that their “groupies” mentioned.

The Griswolds

Australia’s The Griswolds took the stage just prior to 10 o’clock to some very excited fans who rushed to the front of the stage to cheer and champion their new favorite band. This shouldn’t surprise anyone, the band was recently
OUR LIFE STORY REUNION SHOW

at Triple Rock Social Club

Saturday 01/03/15, 8pm ($7)

triplerocksocialclub.com

Billed as “Our Life Story Reunion Show”, this show is the return of local Our Life Story, who was last seen with 2011’s I’d Rather Change Than Stay The Same.

Our Life Story’s drummer Billy Mitchell is listed to also play in all the opening bands: Griswold, Triple Crossed and Internet Dating. This will be his last show before he moves away.

Just a note, but poor punk band Griswold, they just can’t seem to catch a break. The band’s name is too similar to Australian band The Grisworlds (who we just saw in July 2014). And previously called themselves Sleepyhead… which is in direct conflict with active Boston band Sleepyhead (their 90s debut album was recently reissued on Slumberland Records). Yeah, we get it, coming up with a good band name is hard. Let’s hope if they decide to change their name again, that it is not associated with Twins, Bears, or Gold.
