Ween

They started playing Ween songs live as a duo, and after meeting drummer Evan Giazman in auditions for NYU jazz programs and Giazman’s then-roommate Aram Demirdjian, Whitewash was formed.
WEEN

at Roy Wilkins Auditorium

Thursday, 09/15/16, 6:30pm ($50 / $69.50)

theroy.org

The Roy Wilkins Auditorium has a pretty strict no camera policy. If you have a camera pass, you actually get kick out of the venue after three songs, so you can’t really see the rest of the show.

Anyway, Gene and Dean Ween are back, newly reunited as Ween, proving that they haven’t quite push the little daisies just yet.

The reunion was announced last year (November 2015), for shows in February 2016. Throughout 2016, they announced sporadic shows, with St Paul being one of the few shows.

With nine albums under their belt (their last release was 2007’s La Cucaracha), expect a healthy singalong audience as they sing all the classics.

Descendents

When my husband and I met eight years ago, he had just discovered the Descendents and was in that holy – moly – this -is – the – best – thing – I’ve – ever – heard –
Color TV

Local quartet, Color TV, was up next and leveled the place with a lightning-fast set of no-frills punk rock. To my delight, they closed their set with a fantastic cover of the Saints’ “Perfect Day.”
