Death from Above 1979

Originally called Death from Above, the band was forced to change their name to Death From Above 1979 due to legal dispute with dance music label Death From Above (DFA) Records.

Toronto’s Death From Above 1979 announced their 2022 North American tour, in support of their fourth studio album Is 4 Lovers (Universal Music Canada).

NME is already calling the new album as “their best album since their debut.”

We caught the duo in Nov 2014, at the height of their popularity, playing the big main room at First Avenue. The band remembered their humble beginning of playing the tiny 7th Street Entry, ten years ago, next door in November 2004.

Charli XCX

Originally the Charli XCX show at the Schubas Tavern in Chicago sold out, so the promoters booked an additional late show. That too sold out, and we were lucky enough to have caught her

100 GECS

100gecs.com

American duo 100 Gecs (stylized as 100 gecs) consists of Dylan Brady and Laura Les. Since their debut album 1000 Gecs in 2019, the band have grown in popularity, particularly in the video game Minecraft.

During the pandemic, the duo released 1000 Gecs and the Tree of Clues, which rework their debut album, but features callaborations with various stars, such as Fall Out Boy and Charlie XCX.

According to their press release, they’ve sold out every show they’ve ever played… so expect sold out, or at least heavily attended shows in this forthcoming North American 10,000 gecs Tour.

Sydney-born and Berlin-based Logic1000 (Samantha Poulter) came on the music scene with her debut self-titled EP in 2018, via Australian label SUMAC. The EP attracted the attention of Four Tet, BBC’s own Annie Mac, etc, who gave it much praise.

Soon enough, a number of artists enlisted Logic1000 to remix their songs, including Caribou, Låpsley, and others.

Recently (July 14, 2021), she released a couple of new singles, like “Safe In My Arms”, which you can hear below (click on the play button).
