The Rural Alberta Advantage
with Georgia Harmer
at Fine Line

first-avenue.com

The Rural Alberta Advantage (The RAA) is on their second half of their 2023 tour… stopping by the Fine Line Music Café in Minneapolis on Feb 25th. The acclaimed percussive folk-rock trio’s latest The Rise EP is out on Saddle Creek/Paper Bag Records.

We saw TRAA in Sep 2009 and wrote, “Compared to the massive youth crowd of the 800lb Monkey, The Rural Alberta Advantage is tamer. Their audience is a little older (beards, button shirts, beer-drinkers) and I was impressed at how many people knew the RAA songs, as I was told by Kyle that when the RAA came here a few months ago that it was only half-full.”

Loki’s Folly at 7th St Entry, Minneapolis (26 Feb 2023)

02/26/2023 Sunday
Loki’s Folly
with Porcupine and Tragic Hands
at 7th St Entry

first-avenue.com

Minneapolis sister band Loki’s Folly is having an album release party for their debut record Sisu, at the 7th Street Entry on February 26. The three sisters are Annie Kuchenmeister (age 21) as guitarist and singer; Nissa (age 16) as drummer and singer; and Oskar (age 12) as bassist.

Annie had this to say about their record: “A lot of these songs were written during sleepovers in each other’s rooms, often while sharing new music with each other and dreaming about writing songs like the ones we would listen to.”

Dave Pirner (from Soul Asylum) lends his guitar talent to their song “Appease the Girl”… so you might wonder if he may guest appear on their upcoming show. Speaking of which, the siblings’ live shows are described as energetic and passionate.

Loki’s Folly’s debut album Sisu will be released on February 21, 2023 via Kitten Robot Records. “Beaches and Peaches” is available on all streaming platforms now.

Porcupine and Tragic Hands to open.
