Bayonne

Bayonne, the new moniker of Austin-based Roger Sellers, will be making a stop at the 7th Street Entry on Wednesday, January 27th. The artistic style
….

Multi-hyphenate experimental band Bayonne (aka Roger Sellers) headlined the 7th Street Entry, in Minneapolis, on June 12, in support of his new album Temporary Time (Nettwerk Records).

Opening the show was New York-based prog-pop duo Mmeadows (Kristin Slipp and Cole Kamen-Green), on their first appearance in Minneapolis.

It should be noted that singer Slipp is a member of Dirty Projectors, so if you like that band, you’ll find a lot to love with Mmeadows’ synth and elastic vocals. Kamen-Green (son of drummer drummer Joey Baron), meanwhile, has worked with Beyonce, Diana Ross, and other massive stars… but he remains hidden in the background.

The duo mainly played songs from their debut album Light Moves Around You, including the new single “When We Are Together We Are Really Free”.

Bayonne (04 Apr 2017)

We’ve seen Bayonne before in April 2017 and compared him to Thom Yorke: “Opening up the show was Austin’s Bayonne, the stagename for one-man-band Roger Sellers, with a brief 30-min set. Armed with headphones and using various loops and pre-recorded beats, combined with raw vocal performances and sometime live instruments, Bayonne was able to recreate some unique songs. Some of the songs sounded like what Thom Yorke (Radiohead) would create with his experiments.”

Again, the setup remains the same as before, with Sellers remaining in the darkness as you’re shown a visual image in the background. The whole point in playing his show this way is to let you experience his music with the visual imagery. I don’t think Sellers likes being in the spotlight and would have preferred to play and sing behind the curtains…

As you can see from the setlist, he ended the show with “Come Down”, followed by the encore song, “Fallss.”

Bayonne’s new album Temporary Time is out now on Nettwerk Records.
