Helado Negro

Phasor is the new album from Helado Negro (aka Roberto Carlos Lange). The singer will be headlining the Turf Club, in St Paul, on May 1st, in support of the new record.

We saw Helado Negro in Feb 2019 and wrote, “The show started with Helado Negro (stagename for Roberto Carlos Lange), playing as a trio with violinist/multi-instrumentalist Angela Morris and saxophone player Nathaniel Morgan. Each person wore a color, Morris in red, Lange in yellow, and Morgan in blue. The stage lighting also corresponded with each section of the stage, giving off a sense that it wasn’t just a concert, but also as an art piece.”

The Strumbellas

Multi-platinum, internationally acclaimed band The Strumbellas will be heading to the Fine Line, in Minneapolis, on May 1st, as part of their tour for Part Time Believer (Underneath a Mountain Records/The Orchard).

We caught the Strumbellas at the Fine Line in Oct 2016 and wrote, “Toronto’s The Strumbellas is currently one of the hottest band in America, thanks to very catchy singles ‘We Don’t Know’ and ‘Spirits’. The turnout to the Strumbellas’ Fine Line Music Café show in Minneapolis was terrific, and judging from all the dancing in the audience, they create some of the best folk, bluegrass, Americana, and “popgrass” music you’ve ever heard.”

Los Straitjackets

America’s favorite masked surf rock group Los Straitjackets – Danny Amis (guitar), Eddie Angel (guitar), Greg Townson (guitar), Pete Curry (bass) and Chris Sprague (drums, percussion) – is celebrating their 30th anniversary with a show at the Turf Club, in St Paul, on May 2nd, 2024.

You may recognize the Nashville-bred band as the band who wears the Lucha Libre Mexican wrestling masks and part of Nick Lowe’s backup band.
