The World’s coolest band Guitar Wolf is back in the USA. The Japanese band is touring in support of LOVE&JETT (Third Man Records), their 13th album. The new album is the first to feature Bass Wolf (IV), Gotz, who joined the band in 2018.

Guitar Wolf (26 May 2019)
|
We have heard LOVE&JETT in May 2019: “Their thirteenth and most recent release is this year’s LOVE&JETT (Guitarwolf Records, issued by Third Man) and the band started their forty-five minute set (all dressed in head-to-toe black leather, no matter the temperature) with Seiji and Gotz each chugging a beer quickly to get started, with a small mosh pit quickly forming near the left side of the stage. Their music is snarling, fast, and unapologetic, (for example, the new record is 10 songs over just 26 minutes) getting fans frothing early with the new, ‘Sex Jaguar’ and with Seiji pointing to the sky during 2002’s ‘UFO Romantics’, it wouldn’t have been the least surprising to have something come down and beam them up. New bassist Gotz proved as frantic as his predecessors, half swallowing his mic and diving head first into the pit area, to be surfed about, and the title track of the new album, anchored by a fast Tōru bass drum was played late in the set, before one last flash leveled anyone in the crowd whose mouth was not already agape.”
What’s more exciting is that this upcoming North American tour will debut the trio’s new Drum Wolf, Takuro.
Also note, Guitar Wolf also promoting a Kickstarter for Wild Zero II, a film starring Guitar Wolf, of course. As you know, we love the original film, and even got the band to autograph the Synapse DVD when we saw the band nearly a decade ago.
Introduction via Kickstarter: “Together let’s make Wild Zero 2, packed with zombies, UFOs, rock ‘n’ roll, motorcycles, explosions, retro special effects, and love! Let’s rock ‘n’ roll and shatter the tired, cookie cutter world of cinema! This is project aims to raise funds for the production of the sequel to the classic zombie movie Wild Zero, featuring Japanese, Jet Rock’n Roll trio, Guitar Wolf.”

Knocked Loose (03 May 2024)

We just saw the band on 03 May 2024 and wrote, “Singer Brian Garris entered, and the entire place exploded like a bomb, beginning their seventy-five-minute set with the lead single from the upcoming record, “Blinding Faith”. Bodies and heavy guitar riffs were flying in the air with following song, 2019’s “Mistakes Like Fractures” with the band providing the ideal soundtrack for venting and releasing any pent-up anger or emotions.”
Show me the Body, Loathe, and Speed to open.

at Cloudland Theater
cloudlandtheater.com
New wave indie pop Little Fevers is headlining the new venue, Cloudland Theater, in Minneapolis, on May 23, 2024. The Minneapolis group is fronted by songwriter Lucy Michelle, who you may remember as the band leader for Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles.
Little Fevers (21 Nov 2015)
|
We last saw Little Fevers in Nov 2015 and wrote, “Little Fevers played to a packed house on Saturday night at Amsterdam Bar & Hall in Saint Paul. They were the first of three local bands to take the stage and wowed the audience. Little Fevers is a twee pop band from right here in the Twin Cities. Their debut album, Field Trip was just recently released. It was recorded with Matt Boynton (Beirut, MGMT) and mastered by David Gardner (Black Lips). After seeing these guys live, it makes sense why such big names are backing this band.”
Show up early to check out Chattanooga’s sister trio Call Me Spinster (Amelia, Rachel and Rosie), who just released their debut album Potholes via Strolling Bones Records.
Also, The Union Suits is on the bill.
