Amaro by Bibi Club (Feb 27, 2026)

Bibi Club
Montreal duo Bibi Club (Nicolas Basque and Adèle Trottier-Rivard) released their new album Amaro today (February 27) on Secret City Records. I wanted to do a full album review, but due to lack of time and other commitments, I can only bring attention to the record and also mention their tour dates. What I can tell you that all the songs I’ve heard from this album – it’s really good. It sounds a bit like discothèque with ethereal shoegazing (Cocteau Twins and early Lush). Not too dancey, not too bombastic, just laid-back and might be a great background soundtrack for you to work or hosting a dinner. That’s just my quick impression.
The duo was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize last year for Feu de garde, and hopefully, they’ll also be nominated again in 2026.

Travel Back In Time by Club 8 (Feb 20, 2026)
Club 8
It’s been a long time since we last talked about Swedish duo Club 8 (Poprace’s Karolina Komstedt and Acid House Kings’ Johan Angergård). The duo released Seasonal Echoes last October (with a limited vinyl available in December)… however, starting in January, we got the single “Echoes Of Our Time”, followed by “Travel Back In Time”, which came out last week on February 20, 2026.
I did get to stream “Travel Back In Time” and can let you know that it’s typical chill pop, and surprisingly very short. Before you knew it, the song is over. Hopefully with the two singles in 2026, that it’s leading up to a full album later this year.
Randy described the band:

The combination of Karolina’s beautifully delicate vocals and Johan’s instrumentation create what I consider to be a masterpiece of pop music. The album drifts back and forth between songs that are light and melancholic, and others that are more upbeat and happy. The band also shows off a variety of influences, including subtle hints of gospel and country in some of their tunes. Their top-notch songwriting and production really shines as well, due in part to the fact that these two are seasoned veterans when it comes to making wonderful pop music.
