ANIMAL COLLECTIVE

Psychedelic sound machine, Animal Collective, kick off their re-scheduled summer tour today at Portland’s MusicFest NW. Vastly experimental musicians, the band continues to push the envelope on their most recent 2012 LP, Centipede Hz, through layered sound effects and unpredictable song progression. Weaving listeners into an unearthly realm, one can expect nothing less from their theatric and visually stimulating stage presence. Should you desire to be transcended into another reality, definitely don’t miss one of these shows.

ANIMAL PARTS

animalpartsmusic.com

Formerly performed as Joshua Cockerill, he’s currently releasing music under the stage name of Animal Parts. The band unveiled their track “Where The Heart Is” from their forthcoming Six Arms To Hold You EP on SPIN.

Cockerill explained about the homesick song, “I wrote ‘Where the Heart Is’ near the end of a multiple-month long solo tour, where I almost fell through the floor from loneliness to find me the comfort of knowing I was soon going home. The song, and the record as a whole, reflects on places where life has once been, now left empty, and my attempt at putting it back where it belongs.”

The forthcoming EP Six Arms To Hold You will be out October 22nd and serves as the companion EP to their Other Rooms EP that came out earlier in August.

Speaking of Other Room, New Canadian Music wrote, “Other Rooms has a sparse, lo-fi feel throughout, and that suits Cockerill’s plaintive yet persuasive vocals … ”

Look for Six Arms To Hold You on October 22nd.
