Freya Alley- Black Hole (single) REVIEW
By Dena Maxwell

I am not normally into electronica, but Freya Alley is a notable exception. With her beautiful voice and inspired lyrics, this London-based artist is clearly a standout.

Alley’s latest single is Black Hole. Self-released in November 2018, the song starts with a simple hand clap beat, adding dew-drop synthesizer notes and- last but not least- her ethereal and powerful vocals.

The verses show a somewhat softer side of Alley’s voice, whereas the chorus kicks things up a notch, showing the raw power and joie de vivre she possesses as a singer. The song has an incredibly catchy chorus that sticks in your memory and just dares you not to sing along. It is also sure to be a favorite on dance floors everywhere.

Black Hole shows us a deep connection between people who seek authenticity within their lives. With the lyric “I’m not leaving you alone,” Alley offers comfort and hope to her audience in the midst of society’s chaos.

The lyric “we are stuck in a black hole” does not put the listener on a downer, but quite the opposite. It’s just a stated fact of life, something to inspire the critical thinking that can lead to positive change in our lives as human beings.

Black Hole is clearly a winner and I know everyone is eager to hear more from Freya Alley. More singles are forthcoming, with the next one slated for release in early 2019.
