Tucson’s La Cerca is stopping by the Cloudland Theater, in Minneapolis, on May 30th, 2025.

We’ve been to a few Cloudland Theater shows, and the way the venue set up these shows is that the headliner is sandwiched between two local bands.

Squinny will open the show.

Muun Bato will close out the show. We last saw Muun Bato in Mar 2025 and said, “It was interesting to see both band members flanking the lead singer had keyboard and guitar set ups and would switch instruments as each song demanded. There was a late number that had a lot of instrument changes for the band, including what appeared to be sleigh bells. It was the psych rock genre required epic, with extended guitar solo and checked all the boxes. Echoes of the Green was a louder and more upbeat rock number. The final number, Iridescent Christ, had all of the pieces from great bass riff, synth, and the great lead guitar work. Muun Bato thanked the crowd and headed off stage.”

La Cerca’s tour dates:

The Machines vs Monsters tour will stop by the Fillmore, in Minneapolis, on May 30, 2025. Static-X (the Machines) will co-headline with GWAR (the Monsters) for this special show.

Dope and A Killer’s Confession will open.

We’ve seen GWAR a few times, each time entertaining and enjoyable, the last time, in Oct 2019: “Gwar (currently Mike Derks, Brad Roberts, Brent Purgason, Michael Bishop, Casey Orr) was the headliner. Although there are no original band members since the death of Dave Brockie in 2014, the crew does Gwar justice by carrying on their unique music legacy… by combining metal with Warhammer, orcs & demons, and distinctively costumes…You see, with each tour, there is a new storyline in the world of Gwar. Last year, the band killed Donald Trump, so this tour, the band is being impeached by the planet Earth. With a new storyline, that meant new songs (to fit with the them) and also delightful new dialogue from the band. Even if you don’t like metal music, you’ll still be very entertained by beheading (and the infamous blood squirts – so wear a raincoat to these shows!), puppets, and incredible costumes. Personally speaking, it’s the most entertaining show we’ve seen all year. ”

2025 marks the GWAR’s 40th anniversary, having “crash-landed on Earth”, lo-so long ago in 1985.

GWAR’s latest The Return of Gor Gor will come out July 25 on Pit Records/Z2 Comics. Each release comes with a 32-page comic book about the comeback of Gor Gor (the crack-addicted, cross-dressing dinosaur).

The Wedding Present
with The Tubs

The Wedding Present, in celebration of the 35th Anniversary of Bizarro, will be playing the entire album, along with other classics from their discography. The tour will stop by the Turf Club, in St Paul, on May 31st, 2025.

We saw Wedding Present in Mar 2012 and wrote, “As for the Wedding Present, as promised, they did play the entire Seamonsters album, but it didn’t actually start in until eight songs in! They did some new songs (“Meet Cute”, “Deer Caught In The Headlights”) and some old ones (Cinerama’s “Quick, Before It Melts”, their 1987 single, “Anyone Can Make a Mistake”), a pretty good mix. Banter was kept to a minimum because singer David Gedge thought it would break up the flow of the album. Songs from the Seamonsters album were played back to back, lots of guitar switching (they were pre-tuned). They didn’t go off stage, but I’m thinking “Drive” and their 1986 single “You Should Always Keep in Touch with Your Friends” were the encore songs.”

London-based Welsh band The Tubs to open. The band is currently touring in support of Cotton Crown (Trouble In Mind). This will be the band’s first-ever North American tour.

Primus, Puscifer, A Perfect Circle

The special Sessanta version 2 show is coming to Xcel Energy Center, in St Paul, on June 1, 2025. The show features bass kings Primus, wrestling band Puscifer, and A Perfect Circle.

We saw Puscifer in Mar 2016 and said, “Lights then went dark, the wrestling ring moved back and musician platforms moved quickly into place as Puscifer took to the stage for their headlining set, after almost no downtime in-between. As the crew fine-tuned everything, a video warning from side stage monitors by one Major Douche (one of Keenan’s many personas) cautioned against any cameras or cellphone use, which was also reinforced by the tighter-than-normal security. Another Keenan character, Billy D, then appeared on video, slurring and rambling while drinking shots and generally self-abusing. As his visage faded from the screens, the band seamlessly launched into the opening ‘Simultaneous’, cloaked in the dimmest of blue light with a lone footlight near drummer Jeff Friedl as the only beacon.”

As for A Perfect Circle, we saw them in Nov 2017 and said, “With a sheer curtain between the crowd and the band, A Perfect Circle began their hundred-minute set with 2003’s ‘The Package’, the curtain dropping mid-song as Keenan sang “give this to me!” to a roaring crowd. The set was, and remained mostly in darkness for the show, bassist McJunkins and guitarist Billy Howerdel prowled out front as Keenan, James Iha on rhythm guitar/keys and drummer Friedl were each perched on individual round platforms towards the back of the stage. Keenan stayed mostly in darkness throughout, though his flowing blonde wig was visible as he swayed and moved about in the fog and black. ”
