Deltron 3030 at Uptown Theater (September 24, 2025)
Supergroup Deltron 3030 (Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Dan the Automator and Kid Koala) just rocked the Uptown Theater, in Minneapolis, last Wednesday. They did all the hits (“3030”, “Positive Contact”, “Memory Loss”), and, like the last time, they played “Clint Eastwood”, the song that made Gorillaz famous.

“Clint Eastwood”, at least to me, is a Deltron song. Originally Damon Albarn (2-D) recorded a demo of the song and originally had British group Phi Life Cypher as the rapper. Working on the production, Dan the Automator, asked Del Tha Funkee Homosapien to just pop in to record his own lyrics (the two of them were in the recording studio working on their album Deltron 3030). Del wrote and recorded his rap in 30 minutes, thinking nothing of it.
Del was unaware of what a hit the Gorillaz song was, and was surprised when newfound and old fans were telling him how they heard him on the radio.
Here is a photo from Jimi of ‘the Event’ at Deltron Zero in Uptown and my photo of Kid Koala stuff, including autographed of Lealani and Kid K (who opened the show, per tradition), from their latest record (and boardgame) Creatures of the Late Afternoon.
