Lorna Shore is a deathcore band formed in 2009 in New Jersey, known for their symphonic, blackened deathcore sound and intense live performances. They achieved major critical acclaim with their 2022 album Pain Remains, featuring vocalist Will Ramos, guitarist Adam De Micco, and drummer Austin Archey.
LORNA SHORE with Paleface Swiss and Signs of the Swarm at The Midland Theatre- Kansas City, MO (2026-05-04)

Deathcore is alive and well in the heartland!

After ruling the genre with last year’s release of their acclaimed album, I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me (out now, via Century Media Records), longtime NJ band Lorna Shore has taken to the road in support of the new record, bringing along openers Paleface Swiss and Signs of the Swarm, for a forceful night of musical destruction, including a stop in downtown Kansas City at The Midland Theatre.

===

Pittsburgh band Signs of the Swarm opened with a set of punishing heaviness that immediately turned the room more volatile, in support of last year’s To Rid Myself of the Truth, their latest and sixth studio album (also on Century Media Records).

Their set leaned into groove-heavy slams and downtempo breakdowns, but vocalist David Simonich kept things dynamic enough to not sound monotonous. We were hoping to hear “Clouded Retinas” (from the new record, which features Will Ramos of Lorna Shore) but we instead got a couple of other tracks from the LP, including the title track, which opened the evening. The band was solid live andLo expect them to rise in the pecking order of the genre’s acts, following this tour run.

===

Zurich band Paleface Swiss followed with the most chaotic, no quarter set of the night, featuring a focused and intense set of unbridled psychological collapse, in support of their third EP, The Wilted, released in January. Frontman Marc “Zelli” Zellweger never held back, stalking the stage like a man possessed, raging through songs such as “The Orphan” and their set-ending, “Please End Me” with conviction. Their blend of beatdown hardcore and deathcore pulled no punches and took no prisoners.

===

Then came NJ’s Lorna Shore (a band we first saw live more than a decade ago), entering to deafening anticipation before launching into the new album’s epic track, “Oblivion” with a nod to the inspiration from the film, “Interstellar.” Followed by new single, “In Darkness”, the recent songs sounded even more massive live, expanded with grandeur style, but the emotional centerpiece of their set remained the “Pain Remains” trilogy, which ends their 2022 record of the same name.

The restless crowd screamed those lyrics back at vocalist Will Ramos to help forge a communal catharsis with a release of pent-up energy. Ramos effortlessly switched between his monstrous gutturals and piercing shrieks without sacrificing any vocal clarity, and his range and stage presence has come to further define the band, since he joined in late 2021.

===

Three bands with three different sides of the genre- each having their own musical identity and bringing their own distinct vision to add to a sound that has exploded even more in recent popularity.

Lorna Shore closed the night with its theatrical climax, and by the time the crowd heard the last notes of 2021’s “To the Hellfire” with Ramos singing, “As you pass through the f… gate, descending towards the end faster,” the crowd looked out of breath and worn down, but completely satisfied.
