The Baseball Project is an American rock supergroup formed in 2007 by musicians Scott McCaughey and Steve Wynn, who bonded over their love for baseball at an R.E.M. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction party
The Dream Syndicate brought their jangly alt rock to Turf Club in Saint Paul and helped the crowd forget the outside world for a while and even transported them back in time with a play through of 1984’s Medicine Show.

Supergroup The Baseball Project (featuring R.E.M.’s Peter Buck and Mike Mills, The Minus 5’s Scott McCaughey, Hazel Motes’ Linda Pitmon, and Dream Syndicate’s Steve Wynn) with a double play set at the Turf Club on Saturday night.
Halfway through July, which means some sweltering temps, severe storms, and other weather wonders. We’ve seen a few outdoor shows which were threatened, but everything passed by, and the show would go on (fingers crossed)- even so, be prepared just in case.
A little of the old, a little of the new this week, with a mix that anyone should be able to find a show or two, that is to their liking.

Minneapolis: July 5 to July 7, 2024
AthFest is a well-oiled machine, and they run a tight ship. The 19th annual installment of this festival- which ran from Friday June 26 through Sunday June 28, 2015 in Athens, GA- was no exception. I was impressed at how the bookers, organizers and- most of all- the stage crews were able to stagger the bands just so; there was no overlap between any bands on the outdoor stages and therefore no cacophony. None of the Club Crawl bands started playing until after the last outdoor acts for each evening had ended their sets, so we festivalgoers at AthFest 2015 were able to take in music well into the night.

Supergroup The Baseball Project are currently doing a playoff tour of their third album 3rd, stopping by the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis last night, August 11th.
