Sing-Sing – Feels Like Summer
Is it Summer already ??? Well in Minnesota, it’s still slightly breezy (and rainy), but I believe it’s officially Summer!
In celebration, we’re going to listen to “Feels Like Summer” by Sing-Sing! This is such a great pop tune!
Sing-Sing
has a semi-famous bassist called Emma Anderson, who started off in her
career as a fanzine writer with her buddy, Miki Berenyi, in London.
They formed a little shoegazing band called Lush, who were well-loved
in the press (even after they changed their sound to more agressive
rock after their third album).
After
the start of the decline of Britpop, in 1996, their drummer, Chris
Acland, committed suicide due to depression. The three remaining band
members decided to split up.
We
haven’t heard from any of the band members for a while, and the first
news that I heard was that Emma was in a new band called Sing-Sing. I
did manage to pick up “The Joy of Sing-Sing”, which I wasn’t too
impressed with. There were a few songs that stood out, “Tegan” and
“Feels Like Summer”. The other songs seems kind of bland to me (I
suspect it is because I wasn’t used to Lisa O’Neill’s vocals). I guess
deep down in my heart, I had wish they were another Lush.
Anyway,
their album didn’t sell too well and I read somewhere that they kind of
wanted to give up – only to be lured back to the studios because of
their overwhelming fan support. With that they released “Sing-Sing and
I” in 2005.
Sing-Sing
are still releasing music through their official website, so check them
out if you like this song. I believe they’re offering “Lover” for
download on myspace.
