“Joni Mitchell never lies…”, so says the Janet Jackson/Q-Tip song and UK electronic-based singer-songwriter James Blake can attest to that. He met Mitchell after an L.A. show at the Troubadour and she discussed the idea of musical permanence with him.

On the flight back to the UK, he wrote ‘Overgrown’ the title track to his second album (on Republic Records)… and just won the coveted Mercury Music Prize two weeks ago as a result.

Whether his music is categorized as post-dubstep, neo soul, or downtempo trip-hop, it is immersive and invites the listener down the sonic wormhole. The live setting adds another element that must be experienced.

L.A.-based producer/electronic artist Nosaj Thing (aka Jason Chung) opens is this already sold-out show in Minneapolis, so start looking hard for any remaining tickets.
