Quarters of Change
with aldn
at Amsterdam Bar & Hall

first-avenue.com

Quarters of Change is headlining the Amsterdam Bar and Hall, in St Paul, on October 21, 2024.

We saw the band in Sep 2023 and wrote, “Presumably to show their appreciation to their tour openers (and maybe an inside joke we didn’t all get) Quarters of Change emerged for their main set, all wearing “I Heart NEF” white t-shirts, and they would bring the opener back on stage to help with the set-closing, “T Love” (an ode to the very relatable idea of ‘tough love’) so we think it was a genuine friendship formed between the two acts. In addition to the upcoming album, the Lower-East-Side quartet recently released a deluxe version of their last full-length, Into the Rift and they consist of Ben Acker, Attila Anrather, Jasper Harris, and Ben Roter, whose sound is influenced by classic bands like The Beatles and The Who, as well as more recent alternative acts, RHCP and their own NYC cohorts, The Strokes.”

aldn to open.

Porches
with sweet93
at Amsterdam Bar & Hall

first-avenue.com

Aaron Maine, aka Porches is back on tour, in support of the new album Shirt.
Based on the cover artwork, this album seems to reflect on his suburban youth and transitioning to adulthood.

We saw Porches in Sep 2022 and wrote, “Porches opened the evening with a solid set with songs like “Swarovski”, “I Miss That” and “Underwater”. Trimmed down to three members, the songs were short and on point with Aaron Maine and Dan English on guitar and Noah Hecth on drums. All in on guitars, the band at times had a Pixies vibe. Also Hecth’s cymbals seemed to float above the rest of the set giving a new meaning to the musical term “hi-hat”. Based out of New York, Maine said they were excited to be back on the road and opening for Phoenix, saying the band left New York on Sunday just to make it to the first show for the tour in St. Paul, MN.”

New York-based sweet93 to open, on her first national tour. Sweet93’s debut record, All the Same All Ok came out in 2021 and she’s currently working on the sophomore album.

Alternative pop’s brightest stars Genevieve Stokes is headlining the Turf Club, in St Paul, on October 24, 2024. She recently shared her new song “God”, taken from her debut album With A Lightning Strike available October 4 on Atlantic Records.

Talking about the song, Stokes said, “Sometimes I get so caught up in the creation of imaginary worlds that I forget how magical my real life is. I wanted to share what summers in Maine with my best friends feel like, because my experiences here and the people I love make up so much of who I am. first-avenue.com

It is the triumphant return of The The! The band is on tour in support of Ensoulment, the band’s first studio album in a quarter of a century.

Frontman Matt Johnson noted, “The last 25 years seem to have flown by don’t they? But finally, the day has arrived for our new album – Ensoulment – to be shared with our wonderful, loyal audience. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it. I’ve been blessed in working with so many wonderful people (both in front of and behind the microphones) with whom I’ve shared much creativity and laughter.
