Australia rock band Jet blew up with “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” in 2003… They did a promotional tour in 2004 to various US Radio Music Award shows (including Artist of the Year: Rock Radio, Artist of the Year: Rock Alternative Radio, and Song of the Year: Rock Radio), and in their home country, they won six awards (Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album and Breakthrough Artist – Album for Get Born as well as Single of the Year and Breakthrough Artist – Single for “Are You Gonna Be My Girl”).
We tried to catch the group at The Quest on March 28, 2004, but unfortunately, we couldn’t get it. For their 2006/2007 tour to promote their Shine On album, the group just avoided Minneapolis altogether. They played Madison (May 2, 2007) and Milwaukee (Apr 10, 2007), but for whatever reasons, Minneapolis was not on their tour itinerary.
So, we finally caught the band in Chicago, at the House of Blues on May 4, 2007. We actually didn’t have tickets, because the show sold out. We ended up buying last-minute tickets from scalpers outside the venue. I sneaked in a pocket camera and didn’t get any decent photos.
Jet broke up in 2012, and then got back together and broke up again in 2019. Third time’s the charm, I guess, because the band reformed last year and is intent to release a new album for 2025. This will be the first new album in 15 years.

I’m going to assume everybody know about this Australia rock band called Jet, so I’ll skip the introduction.
This was a sold-out show. The security was INSANE, they had metal detectors scanning your body for cameras and recording devices, but I managed to sneak in my camera. Which I don’t really understand because they let people in with camera-phones :/
They did a cover song, it’s an old number, like from the 60s. I couldn’t really tell you which song it was – maybe someone can take a look at their setlist and tell me.
The “Are You Gonna Be my Girl” song set the audience into a frenzy, obviously.
By the way, I thought the drummer was really impressive. He can really drum, and he also sings on certain songs, this guy is amazing.
