Frankie and the Witch Fingers will be headlining the Turf Club, in St Paul, on October 2, 2025, in support of the new album Trash Classic.
We saw Frankie and the Witch Fingers in Oct 2017 and wrote, “Saturday the highlights were definitely Frankie and the Witch Fingers, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Iggy Pop.”
Population II to open. We actually tried to see them in April 2024, but due to travel Visas, the Canadian band couldn’t make it to the United States. Hopefully, this Rocktober, they won’t have the same problem.

Ruston Kelly
with Sam MacPherson
at Fine Line
first-avenue.com
Ruston Kelly will be headlining Fine Line, in Minneapolis, on October 2, 2025, in support of Pale, Through the Window (coming out Sept 12 via Rounder Records). In the meantime, you can listen to his single “Waiting to Love You.”
We saw Ruston Kelly in April 2023 and noted, “Ruston Kelly first made waves when his song, “Nashville Without You”, appeared on Tim McGraw’s Two Lanes of Freedom. He signed with BMG Nashville, then Razor & Tie’s Washington Square, and currently he’s on Rounder Records. As you can see from the setlist, a lot of songs from The Weakness were played, including the title track, which ended his set. I get the feeling that the song is about Kelly’s real struggle with drugs. He famously overdosed in December 2015, and since then have gone to rehab and trying to recover.”
Sam MacPherson to open.
We saw Sam MacPherson in Oct 2017 and wrote, “Sam MacPherson was quite pleased to see so many people on the dancefloor. It was his first time in Minneapolis, and it’s also his first headlining tour, that he admitted that he didn’t know how it would turn out. So he’s happy to even see people here. But he also knows his audience, and thanked everyone that came, including all the boyfriends who were forced to come along.”

Low Cut Connie
with Monica LaPlante and Judy Blank
at First Avenue
first-avenue.com
South Philadelphia’s Low Cut Connie returns to First Avenue, this October 2, 2025. The piano-driven Adam Weiner puts on an amazing show – don’t miss this one. If the date doesn’t work out for you, their first-ever Connie Live is available now on Contender Records.
The band is known for their high-energy live shows, as seen in Oct 2015, when we said, “South Philadelphia-based Low Cut Connie (aka Adam Weiner) closed out the night. Weiner told us on stage that he was a school teacher until the age of 31, when he started his band. He never thought that one day he would be playing his songs around the world. Most of Low Cut Connie’s fanbase was because they’ve seen the band play live, as we mentioned when we first saw him play at Rock the Garden in 16 Jun 2018: “Low Cut Connie blew us away.”
Dutch indie darling Judy Blank to open. Blank’s album Big Mood is out August 22 on Rounder Records.
Also, local musician Monica LaPlante is on the bill. We last saw LaPlante in Jan 2025, and said, “Laplante mentioned there will be a new album coming out, but that they are currently in the trenches with it. You could see the excitement on her face as she talked about the creative process, discussing that the overarching theme of the album is still working its way to the top. There’s an energy that Laplante has as she talked about the band and the music, and it carries through in the on stage performance as well.”

Royel Otis
with bby
at Palace Theatre
first-avenue.com
Australian indie duo Royel Otis is currently enjoying touring success, stopping by the Palace Theatre, in St Paul, on October 2, 2025. The duo’s second album hickey will be out August 22 on OURNESS / Capitol Records.
We caught the band in Sep 2024, and wrote, “Still hot on the music scene, Royel Otis is now playing the much bigger First Avenue. With the bigger stage, they were able to fit more backdrop… including a humongous shrimp in the background. The shrimp, or prawn, as the Australian calls them, is taken from their “Oysters in My Pocket” music video. Currently, the shrimp doesn’t have a name, but the internet all seemed to agree to call it “Shawn the Prawn.””
bby to open.
