Hefty Hi-Rise 32-qt bins

John said a friend of his said that these Hefty Hi-Rise 32-qt bins are perfect for Graded Comics. I’m somewhat starting a Slab collection, so I’m interested in a storage solution. I bought two of these Hefty bins from Walmart today ($9 each).

At my first glance, it looks way too big for comics, so if it didn’t work out, I thought I could still use it for storing my old magazines.

The relevant dimensions are: 12×14.24-inches. A modern comic book is roughly about 7×11, while a slab comic is about 8.5 by 13 inches, so on paper, it should fit with a lot of space (3 extra inches at the width) with about an inch of height clearance.

Now that I have physically added the graded comics in the Hefty bins, they fit! I don’t like the extra spaces as you go towards the top, but the bottom fits fine. The bin is about 9-inches from the bottom and it goes to 12 inches when you go to the top. This was designed this way so you can stack them on top of each other.

You can buy these at your local retailer that carries Hefty products. I believe these Walmart versions I bought has a blue top, while the standard version that you can find at Target or Menards are gray or a different color. They’re all about the same price (under $10), which is much cheaper than the BCW graded bins, which now sells for $55.
