■ Morrissey
Morrissey is an English singer and songwriter. He came to prominence as the frontman and lyricist of the rock band the Smiths, who were active from 1982 to 1987. Since then, he has pursued a successful solo career. Morrissey’s music is characterized by his baritone voice and distinctive lyrics with anti-establishment stances and recurring themes of emotional isolation, sexual longing, self-deprecation, and dark humor.

I’ll confess, Morrissey had a great run in July (with the exception of the one lone cancellation at Warsaw)… but it seems his luck has run out with the recent Las Vegas residency cancellation. The official word is logistical issues. I am assuming it is visa/passport issues to get back into the USA. As far as I know, Morrissey is a British citizen. From my understanding, under this current Donald Trump administration, America makes it very hard for tourists and foreign workers to get into the country. Although you would think all this paperwork should have been taken care of last year when they booked the residency. Still, all this is just pure speculation on my part… it could be as silly as Morrissey just didn’t feel like it.

Official statement:

Hello, we regret to inform you that the Morrissey – Live in Concert scheduled for August 14, 15, 18, and 19 at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas has been canceled.

Due to unforeseen logistical issues, the scheduled Las Vegas residency cannot take place.

Current status: 12 out of 58 dates, 21% cancellation rate.

The Smiths were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982, composed of Morrissey (vocals), Johnny Marr (guitar), Andy Rourke (bass) and Mike Joyce (drums). Morrissey and Marr formed the band’s songwriting partnership. The Smiths are regarded as one of the most important British bands and one of the pioneers of 1980s independent music.
