The “Set It Off” tour, headlined by Atlanta nu-metal and rap-rock band Silly Goose just closed out their long tour at Jack Rabbits, in Jacksonville, last night.
Opening the show was FiRSUN, not advertised on the poster. They are a semi-local (members from Central Florida and East Texas) Nu-Post Hardcore and alternative rock band… their music genre fit right in the lineup.
One of the songs on their set was a new song that they just released today (November 6) called “say it with your chest”, which lead singer Matt Jackson described as “don’t be a b**tch”.
Nu-metal/rap-rock band Muttlee was up next. They played a new song called “Wasabi”, which made its live debut at the 7th Street Entry, in Minneapolis, last month. The most memorable song on their set was a cover of Rage Against the Machine’ “Bulls on Parade” … which they happily dedicated to “F*** Trump”.
Muttlee’s latest “Bringing Home the Blitz” is out now.
Connecticut’s Cheem had a lot of fans. One fan described them as nu-pop. What’s interesting about them is that they seemed to have two singers, with Sam Nazaretian (doing more singing/harmonizing/melodic) and Skye Holden (who does more rap-rock styling – but also plays guitar).
It’s the end of the tour, they said they were exhausted and that this was the “longest tour of our life!”
Atlanta’s nu-metal band Silly Goose closed out the night. Their show is chaotic. Slam dancing, moshing, body surfing … you know, a typical punk rock show. The band encourage it, and partake in it. After the first few songs, singer Jackson Foster asks the venue to turn on the house lights so he can see everyone. The place was packed… but he encouraged them to “take 500 steps forward!”
The band played a lot of new tracks, taken from their recently released album Keys to the City, including the title track in the middle of their set. The song and style reminded me of early Limp Bizkit… which, as you may, or may not know, is from Jacksonville, Florida.
