Texas’ Bowling For Soup returns to Minnesota, headlining First Avenue, on September 21, 2026.

Bowling for Soup
We saw Bowling for Soup in November 2025 and wrote, “Walking on to their own theme song, Bowling for Soup, you know that’s going to be “a great day”. As previously mentioned when we saw the band in August 2025, that Bowling for Soup’s set of songs may not be that long, as half of it is basically Jaret Reddick doing “stand-up” comedy. Surprisingly a lot of parents and their young children was at the show, possibly because they were fans of the Disney Channel’s animated series Phineas and Ferb (Bowling for Soup’s “Today Is Gonna Be a Great Day” is the theme song). It is weird, but Bowling for Soup’s jokes had numerous F-bombs and very adult… not kids friendly, like say, Koo Koo Kanga Roo or They Might Be Giants… so I’m not sure if they were the right band for these children, but I could be wrong. Early in the set, Jaret made the mistake of referring to the audience as “Duval”. Like Jaret, I don’t know what the big deal was… but all was forgiven as they launched into crowd favorites like “High School Never Ends”, with mini-various cover songs like Toni Basil’s “Mickey”, Slade’s “Cum on Feel the Noize” (made famous by Quiet Riot), and Beastie Boys’ “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)” If you like goofy punk-rock, bands who don’t take themselves too seriously, you’ll have a fun time at a Bowling for Soup show.”

Public Image Ltd (PiL) at First Avenue (Sep 22, 2026)
Legendary John Lydon (Johnny Rotten of The Sex Pistols) is bringing his iconoclastic band, Public Image Ltd (PiL) to America. The tour is called ‘This Is Not…The Last Tour’, but based on Lydon’s advance age, I suspect this may be one of the band’s last appearances. But who knows?

Plague Vendor
Plague Vendor to open. We saw Plague Vendor in June 2016 and noted, “West Hollywood’s Plague Vendor (singer Brandon Blaine, drummer Luke Perine, bassist Michael Perez, and guitarist Jay Rogers) was probably the loudest and hardcore band on the Rock the Garden bill. The explosive punk band made the most of their 30-min set, playing some tracks from their sophomore album Bloodsweat (Epitaph Records), including intro song ‘Anchor to Ankles’ (medley with ‘747’), followed by ‘ISUA’. Taking advantage of large crowd, singer Brandon Blaine body surfed near the end of their set, which made it look like this wasn’t their first rodeo. Ripping off his shirt at the end of ‘Jezebel’, Blaine asked if they can squeeze in another song. “Four Minutes? Can we make this?”… suddenly the chords to ‘Chopper’ started to play and the band finished their set on time.”

Hard rock giants Breaking Benjamin will headline Mystic Lake Amphitheater, in Shakopee, on September 22, 2026.
BREAKING BENJAMIN
We saw Breaking Benjamin in June 2025 and noted, “For Pennsylvania rockers Breaking Benjamin, they have also found themselves with BMG Records as well, having signed a deal last October, and releasing single, “Awaken” (which also helped name the tour), their first new song in five years. A new album is expected soon and the band’s most recent full-length is 2018’s Ember, though they did release a compilation of re-recorded songs, Aurora, in 2020… which comes into play later. Lights dimmed in the arena and the taped intro of 2015’s “Dark” prepared the crowd for what was to come. The curtain fell with the beginning riffs of 2015’s “Failure”- a song about the themes of resiliency, struggle and overcoming adversity. Themes that are not only relatable to most but also sum up the band’s continued fight for sustained success over the last couple decades. On the left of singer/guitarist Ben Burnley was his younger reflection, his mini-me, and perhaps the version 2.0 of the band’s future – his ten-year-old son Ben IV, aka “Cheech”, who sang and played guitar at his dad’s side for the duration of the show (so, that’s one extra person ID’d, but there was still another….?).”

Briscoe at Turf Club (Sep 23, 2026)
Briscoe returns to the Twin Cities, playing the Turf Club, in St Paul, on September 23, 2026.
We saw Brisco in August 2024 and wrote, “Briscoe shares quite a few similarities to Wells Ferrari. They also started out as a duo and had an immediate musical bond when they first met. As Philip Lupton described first meeting Truett Heintzelman: “I walked into [summer] camp as a 14 year-old redheaded kid who didn’t know anybody at all, so I just kept my eyes on the ground. A couple feet away from me was another person wearing the exact same pair of Chacos as me, and when we both looked up, it felt like we were looking in the mirror.” It is striking how similar they look. Most fans think they are brothers. There is definitely a fraternal feel, a musical understanding that allowed them to quickly form a duo while attending the University of Texas at Austin, taking classes, playing backyards, living rooms, country clubs, any venue that would have them while seeking solitude and inspiration in the Hill Country just west of Austin, even finding time to record their first album, West of It All, before graduating. Lupton and Heintzelman have had a busy summer, playing music festivals like Newport and Lollapalooza. They have a touring band with Andrew Read on drums, John Clover on Keys and Mitchel Musso on bass, which has helped stretch their musical sensibilities with the two things I have never seen on a stage.”

We last saw Graves in June 2026 when she showed up to sing a duet with Futurebirds. Prior this this appearance, we saw her in June 2025 and wrote, “The three-act bill got underway with a buzzing relative newcomer, Anna Graves, who hails from, and recently returned to her family’s rural farm in Webster, MN, south of our main Twin Cities stomping grounds. After notching time in LA and Nashville but not finding the success she was hoping for, a return to her roots proved some much-needed gravity for her to take stock again and musically express herself even more open and honestly. She laid that truth down to the audience prefacing “Made to Love Someone” and expressed how thrilled she was to have her music featured on the recent hit rom-com streamer, “Nobody Wants This” before playing “Fly”, one of the songs that made the soundtrack. She mentioned her love of birds before her most recent single, “Bluebird” and taught the audience the chorus, on her set-closing “Minnesota’s on My Mind”, a song we can directly relate to. With song placements in other media and a guest vocal on the recent Wilder Woods’ (aka Bear from needtobreathe) single, “Offering”, we haven’t heard the last of Graves by any means.”

We saw Bleachers in 2021 and wrote, “We’ve seen Bleachers before, they’re a really fun pop group from New York. This time around, joining songwriter/record producer Jack Antonoff (who is also in Steel Train, Fun, and Red Hearse) on stage were keyboardist Evan Smith, guitarist Mikey Hart, drummer/keys Sean Hutchinson, drummer Mike Riddleberger, and saxophonist Zem Audu. Starting their set with “Let’s Get Married”, followed by “Shadow”, the band had the audience sing along to their high-energy songs. I think the coolest thing about Bleachers is that Antonoff would personalized random merchandises, like writing on patches, so some lucky fans could get something interesting when they visit the merch table.”

We saw the Linda Lindas in April 2025 and wrote, “There was a surprising number of kids around the preteen age group in the audience. When The Linda Lindas came out to the stage with videos of girls reading books with cats on the cover, all of the dresses and shirts in the crowd with cats on them made absolute sense. Their sound is very punky, with a dash of riot grrrls, comfortably loud and catchy. The set started off with “No Obligation.” Although we would have been happy to hear Lucia de la Garza’s every thought, she would quietly say “I don’t know why I keep trying to talk, we have so many songs to play” then launch into the next few songs before speaking again. Somewhere along the lines, it was stated that the band had only gotten three and a half hours of sleep although both were appreciative of all the faces looking up at them. We were asked to hold up our phones with the lights turned on so that they could see us. I felt like a sardine which was reflected in the video behind them that had fish with teeth running across periodically, otherwise known as Piranhas.”
