Calibre
UPDATE: Since February 26, 2025, Amazon has removed the ability to download and transfer via USB.

If you want to read your digital Amazon books on the Remarkable Paper Pro, you are going to have to jump through some hoops, due to the Amazon’s DRM (Digital Rights Management).

I don’t have problems accessing my Amazon books through the BOOX Note Air3 C or my iPad 12.9 Pro (both devices you can install the Kindle App). Unfortunately, as you may be aware, the Remarkable Paper Pro’s restrictive software does not allow access to Kindle or Amazon.

To get started, you’re going to need a few things: Calibre Software (calibre-ebook.com), DeDRM Plugin (github.com), and a Kindle. It doesn’t matter what Kindle it is, as long as it has a Kindle serial number.

Step 1: Download your purchased Amazon books (under Content Library: More Action: Download and transfer via USB)

Step 2: Pick your Kindle device

Step 3: Copy the serial number from your Kindle you are sending (under your Amazon account: Devices).

Step 4: Install Calibre

Step 5: Install the DeDRM plugin (under Preference: Plugins)

Step 6: Add the serial number to the DeDRM plugin (under Plugins)

Step 7: Add the Kindle Book to Calibre

Step 8: Convert the book to ePub or PDF.

Note: The Paper Pro does a weird thing and duplicate page on comic books. I fixed this by converting the DRM-free ePub to PDF.

This isn’t a perfect solution – it just seems like a lot of work just to get books you purchased on the device of your choice. Ideally, either Amazon offers the Kindle to Paper Pro or Remarkable needs to work on getting the Kindle App on their platform. I place the blame on Remarkable, as it just seems like they have absolutely no interests in working with Amazon or Kobo or other book sellers on their Remarkable devices.

If you have CBR files, you can convert them to PDF using Calibre, so the Remarkable Paper Pro can read them. This is pretty much the best way to get documents to your Paper Pro. I have purchased a ton of comics from Dark Horse Comics, which actually sells them in native PDF, so there was literally no conversion necessary.
