The Last Dinner Party, originally the Dinner Party, are an English rock band from London, formed in 2021. The band consists of Abigail Morris (vocals), Lizzie Mayland (vocals, guitar), Emily Roberts (lead guitar, mandolin, flute), Georgia Davies (bass) and Aurora Nishevci (keyboards, vocals). They have no permanent drummer, and are currently joined for live performances by Dave Adsett and Luca Caruso.

It’s very exciting to see UK’s The Last Dinner Party returning to America, in support of From the Pyre (Island Records). The band is more popular than ever, thanks to their CBS This Morning’s appearance.

The band explains the title of their album:

This record is a collection of stories, and the concept of album-as-mythos binds them. ‘The Pyre’ itself is an allegorical place in which these tales originate, a place of violence and destruction but also regeneration, passion and light. The songs are character driven but still deeply personal, a commonplace life event pushed to pathological extreme. Being ghosted becomes a Western dance with a killer, and heartbreak laughs into the face of the apocalypse. Lyrics invoke rifles, scythes, sailors, saints, cowboys, floods, Mother Earth, Joan of Arc, and blazing infernos. We found this kind of evocative imagery to be the most honest and truthful way to discuss the way our experiences felt, giving each the emotional weight it deserves. This record feels a little darker, more raw and more earthy; it takes place looking out at a sublime landscape rather than seated an opulent table. It also feels metatextual and cheeky in places, like a knowing look reflected back at ourselves.

Last Dinner Party

We saw the band on their first Minneapolis appearance in April 2024 and wrote, “On their maiden US tour, the band stopped by First Avenue, in Minneapolis, on Thursday night. The venue was packed full of diehard fans, who all wore dresses or suits. The fashion was a nod to The Last Dinner Party’s fashion sense… but they were also dressed as if they were attending a dinner party. It’s really fun to both watch the band on stage, but also watching the audience. What’s cool about these Last Dinner Party shows is that you can bring a canned food and, in exchange, you’re gifted a personalized ribbon. The cans are collected and donated to a local food bank.”

Turn Down the Noise (April 10, 2026)

Atlanta’s The Yum Yum Tree will be releasing their album Turn Down the Noise on April 10, 2026, via Somerset Sound. This is the band’s first release since Paint By Numbers, which were hailed by critics as “one of the best Atlanta albums of 2007.”

Bassist, singer, and primary songwriter Andy Gish reflects on the changes from 2010 to the current time:

A lot of work had gone into the songs. I’m a very different person; I probably wouldn’t have written those songs in 2010; I wouldn’t have had the same perspective. It’s a lot harder to be vulnerable and introspective and put yourself in a place where you accept your own responsibility and still want something good for the other person.

The Big Arch (March 2026)

You guys know me, I’m no stranger to fast food. I love fast food, but I’ve eaten less because the cost of fast food has risen to an extraordinary high price… so much that for the same price I would rather just dine at a real “fast cas” or higher-end food service.

I’m not going to lie; I was pretty excited to try out McDonald’s new burger: The Big Arch. I’ve heard about it a few weeks ago, but not all McDonald’s locations were ready or were participating. I eventually found a location that were serving the Big Arch, and, as far as I know, they said this burger was only going to be available for a limited time.

Before I read what’s included in the burger or even the price (it’s about $10 for the burger alone), my first impression of the burger is that there is a whole lot going on. There’s this new sauce. The bun has poppy seeds (which I’m not fond of) and that creates a mess, along with the fried onions. There’s also a lot of meat and it did take me a few minutes to eat. Just a lot of flavors and I really did enjoy the burger. I felt it was like the Big Mac, but taken to a new level.

Now, after reading what is included in the burger, it is two quarter pounds of beef patties (half a pound of beef). It has shredded lettuce, three white cheddar, both raw and grilled onion (I didn’t even notice the raw onions!), pickles, “Big Arch sauce”, enclosed within a bun with sesame and poppy seeds.

The Big Arch is McDonald’s heaviest burger (395 grams with 1,020 calories)… I didn’t know that, but yeah it did take me a good time to eat the whole thing.

If I had to choose between a Big Mac and Big Arch, I’d go with the Arch every time, because I feel there’s better value (and more fulfilling). Sadly, like I said earlier, it might go away, like the McRib, so, for now, you should at least try out the Arch.
