After considering everything, I ended up buying a generic Record Player with External Speakers (R612 Model) for $76. It mostly came down to the price as a major factor, and the fact that it has two external speakers. I spent all of Thursday and Friday listening to my old records. I own about two crates of 12” and a shoebox of 7” and various 10” and picture discs…

Record Table Stand

Ever since I purchased my cheapo Record Player, it really didn’t have a home. I had it on a table, but it doesn’t really belong there.

Recently with the mini record craze, I started seeing targeted ads for Vinyl Players and furniture. It did work; I was suddenly interested in something to hold my records and record player.

Price: The most important thing for me was price. It had to be under $50… and while there were many that was under that price, I ended up going with an Amazon-endorsed Record Stand for $40 (currently on sale).

Look and Feel: It came in three different colors: white-ish, orange-brown, and black. I went with the white-ish colors.

According to the listing, the bottom area can hold about 100 records. I don’t think I have many records… I have about two crates of records. As it turns out the bottom area can hold about one crate of records.

There is a middle section that is big enough to hold the speakers. It’s slightly over 7” inches tall, meaning that area is perfect for my 7-inch records.

It’s Too Small: When I put it together (which was easy to do), it is way too small for my needs. I have two crates of records, so basically what I should have done was pay a little more and get something twice as large so I can hold all my records in one area. It’s also barely big enough for a small record player. My record player is on the smaller side, so it sits on top just fine… but if you have a “full” sized record (over 16 inches), it won’t fit.

Currently I have a one of my record crate (plastic) sitting on the stand… with the record player on top. But it’s not ideal. The plastic bends, and it’s not stable. I’ve already search online for a solid record crate… but they cost almost as much as buying another stand ($35 or $40). At that price, maybe I should just buy another stand.

So somewhat of a regrettable purchase… but at least my records all belong in one area now.

Mini-Verse

I previously mentioned that these “Real Music Vinyl” by MGA’s record player was sold out. It looks like it’s in stock online… however, I would rather just buy it in a store. Currently, at my local Walmart, they don’t have the record player for sale.

The good news is that they had the vinyl blind capsules for sale at $11.97. I was going to buy two, but I hesitated and opted to wait… because it’s still hard to find the record player to play the vinyls. I may eventually just cave in a buy one online, sight unseen.

Walmart also had the “Masterpieces” micro artwork by MGA’s competitor Zuru. Those were only $7.97, making it a really affordable way to decorate a miniature house. I was actually impressed with what I got for $8, so I may invest in buying their random home furniture.

As for the micro vinyls, it’s cool, but I think I’m done with it. I’m happy with the four records I got, which was Elton John, Britney Spears, Public Enemy, and Imagine Dragons. I think I just need to get the record player and then I’m done with them.

My next look-out is the Batman micro comics. I would just love to have them for Dhalsim’s house. See how he’s meditating with Britney Spears.
