Our Neighbor: A Benefit Concert at The Dakota (February 12, 2026)

Our Neighbor: A Benefit Concert held at The Dakota was truly that, with an actual cavalcade of Twin Cities musicians, centered by The New Standards, playing songs of protest and raising money for local charities fighting for our neighbors who are under attack.

Minnesota Yacht Club Festival (20 July 2024)

The second day of the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival had even more attendees. We were also better prepared, bringing an extra battery pack for the iPhone (my phone died on Friday with heavy use throughout the day) and an empty bottle to take advantage of the hydrostations. Free parking was at the usually spot, and it was a nice day for walking to Harriet Island. Crossed over the bridge and entered the gates at 1pm, expecting to hear music already.

First Avenue and Prince: Before the Rain exhibits at Minnesota History Center, St. Paul

Celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this coming week, First Avenue & 7th St. Entry have been the heart of the Minnesota music scene since its first show (featuring Joe Cocker) in a converted bus station originally called The Depot, then Sam's. That fabled history is documented in a unique exhibit now on display called First Avenue: Stories of Minnesota's Mainroom at the Minnesota History Center.

We♥KC – February 16-29, 2020 Upcoming Shows (Kansas City / Lawrence, KS)

Mid-February and the midwest finds itself in the dog days of winter. While Minnesota remains in the deep permafrost, the Kansas City area (still exhaling from the Chiefs Super Bowl win and subsequent massive parade) is in a weather pattern that is anything but predictable-- 72 and sunny on Super Sunday, then single-digit overnight lows soon after, then back to close to 60- wash, rinse, repeat.
