So, remember when I mentioned that Rose Elinor Dougall (The Pipettes) was in a relationship with Graham Coxon (Blur) earlier this year? Apparently, the two formed a band called The Waeve (stylised as The WAEVE).
You know I have a thing for British bands, so I was all over The Pipettes when they first appeared on my radar in 2006. They were just so different at the time, singing old girl-pop and doo-wop sound from the 60s. They were three girls, and they were perfect. My favorite is, of course, Rosay. She would later go on to try a solo act as Rose Elinor Dougall.
Day two of Bicycle Film Festival (BFF), I caught Program 4, Sunchasers, at St Anthony Main Theater in Minneapolis.
I've been meaning to check out Rose's work after she left The Pipettes, and I finally got a chance with some extra cash over the Christmas season. I bought her album, Without Why, released on August 30th, 2010.
Belle & Sebastian that well-loved band from Glasgow, Scotland, are back with a new Christmas song called "Are You Coming Over for Christmas?". The song is available for download on their official myspace on Christmas day.
Remember when I said that I couldn't believe the Pipettes are coming here? And to such a small venue?? Well I just checked the event listing and it shows that this is officially a sold-out show.
Everybody's favorite girl-trio just announced their North American tour and special US-only EP. And guess what ???? They are NOT SKIPPING MINNESOTA! Unbelievable! The 7th Street Entry is a TINY venue, there's probably only a maximum of 200 people in before they break some sort of fire code.
The Pipettes Their album art work got second place for Art Vinyl's best of 2006.
