Palma Violets

“Shake that aloofness sickness! I give you South London’s finest!” shouted pitchman Harry ‘Violent’, UK buzz band Palma Violets’ merchandise huckster, and self-appointed band ‘ambassador of taste and class’.…
Palma Violets was the surprise secret guest at the NME Radar Showcase at the Great Escape in Brighton.

The band created a mosh pit, police video riots, crowd surfing by all band members and fans, at their 2am headlining show at the Haunt.

NME leaked the Violet information that they were headlining the NME Radar Showcase early that morning, but luckily I saw it on Facebook.

The buzz started and it was worth the wait! It felt like I was in a mosh pit from the Clash heyday. There were throwing elbows, helping surfers, and, of course, the stage invasion! I managed to come out alive with some dirt on my pants. I sweat more at the gig then I did after running a marathon. It was epic. These young lads from London played all the hits from their debut album 180.

Palma Violets were, by far, the biggest headliner at the Great Escape. The band is storming to get to the big stage with Arctic Monkeys. Can you say rivalry? The Violets certainly work the crowd more than any gig from the 'Monkeys shows I've been too. Hey, Alex Turner let's make things interesting and invite the Violets on tour?

Palma Violets recently toured the states with New Orleans group Generationals. And also played Minneapolis where John was Johnny-on-the-spot for coverage.

Palma Violets also won 'Best New Band' by NME. I predict Splashh or Childhood to win that award next year.

The band are gearing up for a summer of music festivals, expect to catch them at the major ones, including Leeds, Reading, and T in the Park.
