Australian guitar-pop sensations duo Royel Otis played a crowded Uptown Theater (after being brought indoors and upgraded from GrindersKC) in midtown Kansas City, in support of their second full-length, hickey, released in August (via Ourness/Capitol Records). Explaining the album title, the pair has said "…because love bites harder than any other emotion in the world."
When Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce sued Morrissey, he affectionately called them "Lawnmower Parts"... suggesting that they were not an important part of The Smiths and did not deserve the 25% equal share of the group's earnings.

Not a popular opinion, but No Need to Argue is not my favorite The Cranberries album. I prefer the later records, particularly the Bury the Hatchet-era, when I felt the band was in top-form and understood how to write blockbuster songs. I’ve never seen so many birds and insects in one place, it’s pretty crazy. I’ve already seen two different snakes and plenty of bugs (some of which I could care less). So, enjoy all the wildlife that I’ve seen around Jacksonville.
There was a big push for the British/Irish band Vega4 when they released their sophomore album You and Others. In America, in particular, the band was showcased at SXSW around mid-March 2007. Since they were already in America, they book to tour for the next few months. One of those stops was at the Varsity Theater, in Minneapolis on May 22, 2007.

Sparks is a musical tandem of Russell and Ron Mael, two brothers born and raised on the coast of California, who found a musical home in London. Their musical journey started quite a while ago in 1971. Since then they have recorded 28 studio albums and over 500 songs. They are currently touring to promote their latest release Mad, but they had plenty of other songs to dip into during their almost two hour concert.
Forty-year anniversary celebrations were on the menu this weekend. In Chicago the Pogues played Riot Fest to celebrate the 40 years since the release of their seminal album Rum Sodomy & the Lash. At The Bank on the University of Minnesota campus an all-star line-up, including Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan, headlined the 40th Farm Aid Music Festival. And on Nicollet Mall in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, a jazz club reached the rare milestone and decided to throw a party.

Since September 1st, I have been really busy backing up the TypePad website, month by month… starting in August 2025 and working backward to January 2007. With everyone also backing up, they knocked the host offline for a few days, so I was worried for a while about getting all my data off of TypePad. It’s all fixed now, so as of a few days ago, I’ve grabbed all the pages and their thumbnails (displayed images). The next step is to drill down and download all the full images… which might not be possible, given the short time frame. We only have a week before they pull the plug.
