The latest found footage horror series V/H/S is back with V/H/S Halloween. This is the eighth installment, and as someone who has seen all the VHS series, I can’t honestly tell you which ones are good. They’re pretty much all the same: random little stories with VHS special effects. Sometime it’s unwatchable, sometime it’s scary, sometime it’s goofy… you know what you’re getting when you watch a VHS film.

In fact, this Colorsoft seems to be targeting the ReMarkable Paper Pro’s fanbase, as it is a similar size and pricing.

The world’s best record players are all made by Audio-Technica. It is the brand that everybody, who is into vinyl, recommends. I would love to own an Audio-Technica product, but all their starter turntables are priced at $200 to $350. Those are the starters, which are the “cheap” entries. If you want to “Step-Up”, those starts at $400… and when you go all-in, you’re looking at $2,000 for a turntable. That is crazy money to throw at a record player, in my opinion.

Site Update (September 2025)
Since September 1st, I have been really busy backing up the TypePad website, month by month… starting in August 2025 and working backward to January 2007. With everyone also backing up, they knocked the host offline for a few days, so I was worried for a while about getting all my data off of TypePad. It’s all fixed now, so as of a few days ago, I’ve grabbed all the pages and their thumbnails (displayed images). The next step is to drill down and download all the full images… which might not be possible, given the short time frame. We only have a week before they pull the plug.

The Remarkable company came out with the Remarkable Paper Move (RPM), which is a mini-RPP. The new device is 7.3 inches and can fit in your pocket. It has everything the RPP offers (including the Gallery 3 Color e-ink screen), but only smaller and portable. This very expensive pocket notepad is $500, comes bundled with a pen.

This Techtober we will be seeing the battle of the PC Handhelds. On one corner is the much-anticipated ROG Xbox Ally X and the other corner is the underdog Legion Go 2. Both will be using the next generation AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme Processor on the high-end models. If you were looking for the next level performance, you have to get the Z2 Extreme chip, because the lower-end model’s performance is comparable to last year’s Z1 Extreme.

Cinema of the Macabre: Rabid Grannies at Emagine Willow Creek, Plymouth (July 14, 2025)
As a big movie fan and collector, particularly of the horror genre, so I am delighted to see such a good, or rather rabid, fanbase for the Cinema of the Macabre. This is a horror movie series, curated by Tim Alan Holly (who will also introduce the movie with some notes about the film), that takes place every Monday at Emagine Willow Creek, in Plymouth, and as a tourist, I attended the July 14th showing of Rabid Grannies.
Amazon Prime Day 2025
Amazon Prime Day is here. The event will run through July 11. I ask you to not buy anything on those dates, because Amazon will mess up on your orders (wrong items, wrong location, missing deliveries)… it’s almost not worth it for the savings. I’ve experienced these problems first hand. Oh, also, I should also add to the note that the delivery time takes much longer. Normally you get your products in one or two days, but on Prime Day (this also applies to Black Friday), it may take up to a week! It’s incredibly frustrating, so again, I urge you wait two weeks after July 11, if you plan on buying anything on Amazon.
